There is hope. You are not alone.

At Rooted Counseling in Colorado, we’re here to listen, to be patient, to guide, and, most importantly, to give you the tools you need to weather life’s storms.

In a plant, the roots feed and give strength to the stem, leaves, and fruit growing above. If the roots are strong, the plant can handle whatever the universe throws at it.  We want to do the same for you. Together we’ll build root systems that connect you to the things that nourish your soul, and keep you strong.

Stephanie Weeden, LMFT

We each have stories - some parts we share, some parts we keep safe to ourselves - but it's in recognizing how the pieces of our lives shape us that we are finally able to create positive change for ourselves. It can be so easy to "let life happen to us" and so hard to recognize our own ability to make change. I want to help you find your inner strength and direction so that you can experience the power of your own life story.

If you are seeking support for life transitions, identity development, life stressors, relationship issues, or exploring who you are in the world- this may be a time of great pain, confusion, and uncertainty or maybe it comes with hope, excitement, and curiosity.  As we peel apart the layers of life and your experiences, we will explore sense of self, purpose, and areas of growth.  This process is an invitation to feel, connect with yourself, and repair old or negative narratives that no longer serve you.  So often we’ve learned to ‘bottle up’ our feelings and are taken by surprise when they begin seeping out later.  Sometimes we’re afraid if we open up, it will all come rushing out at once; therapy can help build parameters for our emotional management to feel safe and productive.  This awareness facilitates a healthier relationship to ourselves, as well as with our partners, friends, and family.  I invite you to seek a deeper understanding of yourself as you build the life you desire and deserve.

With grief work, I acknowledge that grief comes in many forms, has no rules, and can feel more like a tangled web than ‘stages.’  We each experience grief in our own way, which can often lead to feeling quite isolated and even unsure if we’re doing grief “right.”  Grief work holds the potential for such overwhelming depth that we may try to avoid it; or maybe emotions feel so foreign it’s hard to know what you even feel or where to begin.  Grief ebbs and flows and the process of grieving itself leaves us forever changed; yet is an incredibly important and vital piece of the human condition.  Allow me to hold space for you, your pain, and the ache of your grief as we work together to navigate the question of how life could ever move forward after loss.

I received my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Regis University (Denver) and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the State of Colorado. I am also an approved provider of CGC® Pathfinders, a grief-based curriculum from Judi's House, one of the nation's leaders in grief support.

Lauren Jensen, MSW, LCSW

Hello! I'm Lauren, and I get that personal and mental health struggles are real. Reaching out to talk with a therapist takes a great deal of courage and inner strength. My passion is to walk with you through what’s going on in your life so you can rebuild confidence, find hope, and restore a greater connection with who you really are.

I grew up in a divorced family that experienced lots of change. Although joyful, my childhood was at times quite painful. As a young adult, I struggled to be myself and developed many symptoms of anxiety and depression that have since been with me for a long time. I also experienced many layers of grief and loss that left me disillusioned and feeling lost. Throughout these ups and downs, counseling helped me to see more of who I really am and restore my self-confidence and hope.

Because of this, I pursued social work, graduating from the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work. I am patient, compassionate, and understanding. I know how hard it can be to work through the challenges in life, especially the unexpected challenges that shake you to your core. Most of all, I believe you have the wisdom within you. My style is to focus on solutions to the problems that you’re facing, help you effectively use strengths and resources, and teach relaxation and stress-reducing techniques that you can use in your daily life to make a difference.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 15 years of experience, I specialize in:

  • Anxious perfectionists

  • Grief and loss

  • Secondary trauma and burnout (overextended helpers)

  • Struggles in motherhood and (in)fertility

  • Family, romantic, and friend relationship dynamics
